Two concentric circular banks and ditches have been constructed from compact chalk, which is evident on the surface today in the eroded sections. The structure sits close to the river and had no entrances until some were cut in 1890's. Wikipedia tells us that the outer diameter is 212 meters, which is twice the size of Stonehenge's outer enclosure (bank and ditch).
Iron Age dates place Warham's construction somewhere between 800 BC and 43AD. It was the Iceni people who occupied this land during this time, before the Romans arrived in Britain.
I share a video below of my experience of this serene place on a rainy December day in 2024.
